Updated for 2021, the Honda Pilot offers something new to its model lineup. Shift paddles, idle shutdown, three-zone air conditioning and a nine-speed transmission are now standard on all models. It also offers families generous cargo space and seating for up to eight passengers.

The 2021 Honda Pilot has a more advanced transmission
All Pilot versions come with a 3.5-liter six-cylinder engine producing 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Also standard is an advanced nine-speed transmission with tilt logic control and paddle shifters that personalize your driving experience.
The Atlas offers two engines, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter six-cylinder. The turbocharged engine peaks at 235 horsepower and the other reaches 276 horsepower. Although the six cylinder is similar in power to the Pilot, it only offers an eight-speed automatic transmission and excludes paddle shifters.
All Pilot versions are available with a towing capacity of 2268 kg. However, to get this same capacity with the Atlas, you have to go for the six-cylinder engine. This will affect the initial costs.
The Pilot also weighs up to 136 kg less than the Atlas, with a wider base that adds stability and feel when the road calls for more agility.
